It's been a busy week for Rainy Moon Studios! Last Friday, March 15th, "Today I Feel" was shown at the Cinestudent Film Festival in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. There were dozens and dozens of entries and "Today I Feel" made the initial cut of nine National films selected for the festival. There were 25 films in total selected across 4 categories: International, Broadcast Journalism, National, and Local. "Today I Feel" was part of the final four National Films selected for screening, one of a total of 18 films across all categories. We are very proud of our first film to be selected as a Finalist in the National Category as it was also our first film festival submission!
In other news, we premiered "Today I Feel" to family and friends at The Cat Theatre in Carmel, IN last Monday, March 18th. It was a great night to acknowledge all of the hard, brilliant work, of our actors and crew. Thank you to The Cat Theater for having us; it was the perfect venue!
Hopefully, in the upcoming two to four months we'll know if "Today I Feel" is selected for any more festivals. When we know - you'll know - stay tuned!
Please join us for the Premiere of "Today I Feel…" on Monday, March 18th at 7:30pm! It will be held at The Cat Theatre in Carmel, IN. Admission is Free. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Aside from our film, we will be showcasing various student made films from around the country. Support our filmmaker, actors, and crew for the fantastic job and accomplishments they did in making this film. It will be an enjoyable time and you won't want to miss it!
All of us at Rainy Moon Studios are excited to share the trailer for our short film, "Today I Feel…"
Hi everyone! Just a quick update as we get close to finishing "Today I Feel…" We just finished recording music for the film with our talented composer Jessie. She continues to amaze with her songwriting and musicianship. That just leaves finishing the audio post-production. And, as you can see on the home page and below, I finished our movie posters as well.
But the big news is that this Friday, February 8th, we're releasing the film trailer! I can't wait for everyone to get a preview of the incredible work everyone has done on this film. Check back here, and on Instagram, for links to the trailer. See you then!
Welcome to 2019! Last night we recorded final narration for "Today I Feel…" with Kelsey. We also met with Jessie, our amazing musician and now film composer extraordinaire, and captured her beautiful opening music. It was a productive and fulfilling session as it reminded us since being in post production these past couple of months how skilled all of our talent and crew are, as well as being genuinely lovely people!
Today we completed our first assembly edit of the entire film.. Currently we're working on our finishing edits and continue to work with Jessie on music to finish the film. We can't wait to share the fruits of our efforts with everyone!
Today was final shooting for "Today I Feel..." Special thanks to Kimberly Johnson and Omoni Fresh Korean Grill for letting us film there today. It is with the support of local businesses that a small independent studio like ours can make films in interesting locales.
With the end of shooting, we are both excited at saddened at the same time. Filming these past few weeks has been a lot of fun and we will miss working with our actors and crew. Now it's off to post production and editing land. More updates to come though via our website news and instagram!
We have been filming indoors. We are 98% done with our outdoor shots and although our locations were gorgeous we were happy to not have to contend with bugs any longer - especially since it has cooled off quite a bit in the past couple of weeks. We were all ready for a change of scenery - pun intended! Indoors the actors got to stretch their acting chops a bit which they were probably itching to do. They are doing a marvelous job and we are so happy to be working with them. We will continue to shoot indoors (a lot of lessons learned in terms of lighting) and have one more shoot indoors at a private business. For instagram photos go to: instagram.com/rainymoon.studios.
Today was a busy day. We completed our first day of shooting. The locations were amazing! To see some photos from today's shoot, go to instgram.com/rainymoon.studios. Tessa also attended the "Screenwriter's Exposed" workshop at Indiana Writers Center. It was a fun and informative workshop. We thank Saundra Mitchell for her input on the "Today I Feel..." script and guidance on some time-saving online tools! Her biography can be found here: https://www.indianawriters.org/pages/saundra-mitchell.
Auditions were held last weekend and casting is complete. We saw a lot of talented actors – so much so we had callbacks on Monday to finalize our decision. In the end, we believe the actors selected are going to do a fantastic job as evidenced by their audition, callback, and our read through Thursday. Filming begins Sunday!
Crew are needed for the filming of “Today I Feel…”. Both a Gaffer and a Boom Operator are needed. For the Gaffer, no experience is needed – we will train. For the Boom Operator some experience is helpful and preferred. Please see the homepage for more details.

After completing the 5 day MIPA (Michigan Interscholastic Press Association) Summer Journalism Workshop which took place at Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI, I was honored to receive the:

Over 300 students attended the exciting and fun camp. I learned a lot and I am actively using all that I learned there.
